This week´s AM/FM show is the fourth and last hour of my set that I played at the Nextech Festival in beautiful Florence. The venue is a historical place in the center of the city, called Fortezza da Basso. First time I played there was 2002, back then actually for the same promoter. Isn’t it amazing how we manage in this ever-changing world to have places in the Techno scene where some things don’t change and rather develop in a great way over the years? Also amazing was the fact that this year´s event, which happened on December 7th, was sold out beforehand, in spite of the fact that it is actually a rather big venue. I just love Italy :). Maybe you wanna check out the after movie on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/nextechfestival/videos/
This time I played a 4h set. Doing this in front of such a large crowd can sometimes be a little intimidating, but not in Florence, not in Italy. The passion and love of the crowd just pushes you to different levels (thank you all again). This paired with an amazing sound system and a sound crew, which consists of true professionals, (another big thanks from my side) is the key to be in a flow that enables you at times to create something special and unique (at least I had the feeling that this was happening in my little world on the stage). Additionally I may add, that playing with my Model One Mixer by PLAYdifferently and running all my sounds through my unbeatable, super tight and stable Antelope Audio Orion 32+ Sound interface creates the best sound that I have ever experienced. I wonder if some of you can spot the difference in sound since I have been using this new setup from about August of this year on, by comparing it with older sets (good thing about AM/FM is that you can go back in time - as I said, it is kind of a musical diary). Also I am becoming more and more familiar with my new Maschine Jam and Maschine Mikro combination by NATIVE INSTRUMENTS. The more I work with it, the more fun I am having.
Well, I hope you are having fun too and enjoy listening to the set as much as I had playing it. Now that you have all the four parts you could also put them together into a playlist and listen to the entire set with seamless transitions.

Chris Liebing Hey!

Ready for 2017? Same here, still trying to digest 2016, which was both, good and bad. But first let´s remember that this whole year number thing is a man made construct in order to organise our social life, nothing more nothing less. It is not like that the whole world will change over midnight. But it still gives us the chance to reflect.
Last year in my “new year´s post”, I mentioned that I wanna spend less time online and I actually did. Even though it was the busiest year (and in my opinion best) in my DJ career so far, I did manage to spend my private time with way more quality and joy. In general I spend more time doing things that I love and enjoy, skipping more stuff that I don’t enjoy (sorry to all those who still wait for email responses), even though it meant that I missed some opportunities or let some people down. But one has to learn to have a bit of healthy egoism, which includes saying “No” at times. I believe a happy person who is working less is better than an unhappy person who is working a lot. So take some time off. Live the moment. Do what you enjoy and do it now.
We learned the hard way in 2016 that our time here does not last forever. Just remember all those we lost. Prince, David Bowie, Alan Rickman, Glenn Frey, George Martin, Garry Shandling, Muhammad Ali, Gene Wilder, Leonard Cohen, George Michael, Carrie Fisher to name a few. All amazing artists, but the good thing is, they also left us loads of amazing art. So let´s enjoy more art.. Let’s visit more concerts and gigs, see and experience more of that amazing talent we have on this planet and at the same time be inspired and discover that amazing talent of yours, whatever that may be.
According to the late George Michael, music is the greatest gift that god gave us. So let´s make and listen to more music. Go out, go to clubs and dance. Everyone. Especially to electronic music. It peacefully brings people of all colours, races, cultures, political views, countries and orientations together. It gives us back the feeling that we are all connected, that we, as unique and different we all are, are essentially all one.
2016 was challenging in many ways. War, terror and destruction does not seem to end and who knows, maybe in that respect it gave us only a taste of what 2017 is going to be like. The US will have a new president, who managed to bring more division and hatred even before he got “elected”. I believe this kind of clueless hardliner is the last thing we need right now. But hey, let´s also wish him well. The only thing we can do is to spread more love and respect in this world, even to those who we disagree with or dislike. Especially to those.. No more hate and division.
I will remind myself everyday.
So from a personal point of view, let me thank you all for the amazing 2016 that I had. Thank you for letting me do what I do. I wish you all a great, peaceful and successful 2017. Judging by the events of 2016, we will be in for a wild ride and it will definitely be a better one with a smile on our face. Can´t wait to party, dance and enjoy music with you.
Peace and out. C

P.S: Oh, I almost forgot. Yes, I did finish my album. Took a little longer due to various vocals (what?!? vocals??) and stuff, but I am super proud and happy with it. Mainly thanks to my super gifted and amazing production partner Ralf Hildenbeutel. I guess it will be out right after the summer, hopefully something to look forward to. Of course I will keep you posted :)
